Helicentre were proud to support OnSide North West at their 2011 Christmas Dinner.
We managed to raise over £8500 on the evening which is a fantastic acheivement and we would like to thank everybody for their kind generosity and support of this worthwhile cause.
OnSide is a newly established charity dedicated to building first class Youth Centres across the North West because too many of our young people have nowhere to go and nothing to do and nobody to listen to them. The model is based on The Bolton Lads and Girls Club, which is recognised as one of the most successful youth centres in the country. David Cameron stated on a recent television documentary featuring Helen Newlove, that “every town in the country should have one”.
OnSide has already secured the funding for, and is supporting the building and development of, youth zones in Manchester, Oldham, Blackburn, and Wigan. Carlisle Youth Zone was opened in April 2011 and already has well over 1000 members.
Plans are well underway for youth centres in Chester and Preston. Several other towns in the North West are keen to have one.
Imagine a youth facility in the centre of town offering a safe, warm, inspiring, motivating, and challenging environment for our young people. It’s what they deserve and it’s what OnSide can offer. The first five youth zones are secure. To continue with future development, more help is needed.
